Maurice Harron has been selected for a commission to create a sculpture for Tullamore, County Offaly, to be erected in 2009.

The work will celebrate the ancient place of learning, Clonmacnoise, County Offaly. This university was at the centre of European culture from the 8th to the 16th century.

This work will comprise 4 semi-abstract stainless steel structures, each 6 metres high, to be located on raised sites 200 metres apart.
